Zelensky awards 697 defenders, 127 of them posthumously

President Volodymyr Zelensky has awarded state honors to 697 defenders of Ukraine, including 127 of them posthumously.

The relevant decree No.351/2025, dated May 26, was published on the president’s official website, Ukrinform reports.

The President awarded the defenders for their personal courage in defending Ukraine’s state sovereignty and territorial integrity, and for selflessly performing their military duty.

The awards presented include the President’s Cross of Military Merit, the Orders of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi (II and III degrees), the Orders of Danylo Halytskyi, and the Orders of Courage (I, II, and III degrees). Additionally, defenders received medals such as For Impeccable Service (III degree), To the Defender of the Fatherland, and For Saved Life.

Zelensky honored 582 servicemen of the National Guard, 87 officers of the National Police, and 28 members of the State Emergency Service for their dedication and bravery.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, by decrees issued on May 23, 2025, President Zelenskyy awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine to seven servicemen, six of whom were honored posthumously.
