President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda during a meeting in Vilnius discussed the second round of talks held in Istanbul earlier today.
President Zelensky reported this on Facebook, Ukrinform saw.
“I met in Vilnius with President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda. I informed him about the second round of negotiations that took place today in Istanbul. As long as there are no meaningful signals from Russia about ending the war, it is crucial to strengthen our defense and especially to invest in Ukrainian production. This is the foundation for peace talks. Thank you, Gitanas, and the Lithuanian people, for sharing this view,” Zelensky noted.
The parties also discussed sanctions pressure, Ukraine’s European integration, and the nation’s reconstruction. They also coordinated diplomatic steps.
The Ukrainian head of state thanked his counterpart for the invitation to the summit and all the support provided.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, President Zelensky arrived in Vilnius for the summit of the Bucharest Nine and the Nordic nations.
Meanwhile, the second round of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia took place in Istanbul earlier today.
The first round of talks was held in Istanbul on May 16. In particular, it was agreed to exchange prisoners of war under the 1,000 for 1,000 formula.
