U.S. business in Ukraine most interested in defense sector – Sigma Software CEO

The most interesting projects for American businesses in Ukraine are currently in the defense field, including dual-use technology.

That’s according to Valeriy Krasovsky, co-founder and CEO of the leading Ukrainian IT company Sigma Software, who spoke with an Ukrinform correspondent in Washington.

“Of course, this is our defense sector. This is a unique experience that we have right now. No one has such experience,” he said.

Krasovsky clarified he meant the interest of Western partners in new technology and innovations that Ukraine employs in the defense sector, including dual-use tech.

“In addition, (Western – ed.) companies are really interested in Ukrainian specialists, Ukrainian engineers, because partners are well aware of our efficiency,” he noted.

Ukrinform spoke with the CEO of Sigma Software on the sidelines of the AI+ Expo 2025 international forum held in the U.S. capital, where he took part in the panel “Innovation under fire: How Ukrainian technologies contribute to the fight for freedom.” The panel was set up by the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC) in cooperation with Diia.City Union and the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States.

“The main message we’d like to convey here is that you can work with us and do it great,” Krasovsky noted.

In this context, he emphasized that practically none of the Ukrainian companies, in particular in the IT sector, which had foreign customers, have lost productivity since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

“So, if we’re able to work effectively amid war, imagine how we can work in peacetime,” the expert noted.

Krasovsky also said that, together with partners, he is trying to motivate Americans to invest more in tech companies with Ukrainian founders. Including, according to him, these are firms incorporated in the United States, so that American investors can be sure that their rights are protected.

As to Western partners’s reaction to the special operation “Spiderweb” that targeted Russian strategic bombers, Krasovsky noted that this was totally perceived as a success for Ukraine.

As reported, the international forum AI + Expo 2025 kicked off in Washington on June 2, bringing together more than 15,000 participants, including representatives from the tech sector, business leaders, government officials, and diplomats. The event’s top agenda includes artificial intelligence, innovation, the latest trends, and opportunities for creating strategic partnerships.
