Advisor to the Head of the Ukrainian President’s Office Mykhailo Podolyak said Russia is plotting to attack northern Europe.
He stated this on national television on Tuesday, June 10, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“The war is already going on today, right here, right now. It is going on in Europe, on the territory of Eastern Europe. Moreover, Russia is openly stating they are preparing opportunities to attack the northern part of Europe. We know what is happening on the border with Finland, what is happening on the border with Estonia. The priority for the Russian Federation is control over the Baltic waters. Also, control over the island of Gotland in order to be able to control north-central Europe by deploying the relevant capabilities there. It is important for Russia to control the Suwałki gap to the Kaliningrad region, and to turn the Kaliningrad region into a kind of outpost, a sufficiently large one in Europe,” said Podolyak.
He emphasized that due to this, Europe does not have five years to stop Russia. After all, the Russians have already started attacking European nations in three formats of hybrid warfare.
“Russia cannot withdraw from war. That is why they are already waging war against Europe in three formats. First of all, this is cyberattacks. We saw what happened on the eve of the presidential elections in Poland. The second format of this war is propaganda, a rother tough one, as they are spending more and more money to this end. In particular, this is what the Russian Federation is doing across social media. And the third format of this war is sabotage. These are provocations against the defense industry CEOs, political leaders. Europe does not have five years, they are already fighting, they are already at war, although the hot phase of the war today is on the territory of Ukraine,” the advisor to the head of the President’s Office added.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that without pressure, Russia would quickly occupy Poland, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Finland, and other countries. Therefore, partners should put pressure on Russia rather than expect Russian leader Vladimir Putin to be ready to start peace negotiations.
