On the second day of the G7 summit, the leaders of the seven participating countries will discuss Ukraine’s recovery and ways to improve the nation’s economic situation.

This was announced on national television by Deputy Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Committee, Chair of the Subcommittee on Information Policy and European Integration in the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy, MP Yevhenia Kravchuk, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“At the summit, the world’s seven leading economies are discussing economic issues. It is very good that Ukraine is invited. It is important that there will be a separate topic dedicated to Ukraine. In particular, breakfast on the second day will be dedicated to Ukraine’s recovery and economic growth,” Kravchuk said.

She also noted that one of the central topics will be a discussion of the EU and US sanctions policy against Russia.

“After all, this meeting is so important for Ukraine. We would expect a discussion of the issue of lowering the price cap on Russian oil within the framework of sanctions. From $60 to $45. Of course, we believe that $30 is better,” Kravchuk emphasized.

She explained that the position of the EU countries is currently very important even if the US does not agree to lower prices for Russian oil.

“If you look at who the export of oil depends on territorially, it is the European continent. Most tankers, including those from the shadow fleet, leave the Baltic Sea through the Danish Strait. Therefore, it will be more difficult without the US, but the EU and the UK will be able to solve some things on their own,” Kravchuk said.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Group of Seven summit started its work in the Canadian province of Alberta, in which President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will also take part. On the last day of the summit, a separate discussion will be held on protecting Ukraine’s sovereignty.

The topic of the working session on Tuesday, June 17, will be “Strong and Sovereign Ukraine.”

The meeting on Tuesday will begin with an official greeting from the invited leaders, followed by a working breakfast.

Later on Tuesday, the final session of the G7 is scheduled, a joint photo of the leaders, a working lunch on the topic of “Energy Security” and a press conference of the chairman of the summit.
