President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that one of the topics he plans to discuss with U.S. President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 summit is a defense package that Ukraine is ready to purchase.
The head of state made this statement during a joint press conference with Austrian Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
“We are not talking to America today about new aid. Indeed, one of the issues I will discuss with President Trump during our meeting concerns a defense package that Ukraine is ready to buy. And we will talk this over with him. I am confident that we will have such an opportunity — at least, I am counting on it,” Zelensky said.
As reported by Ukrinform, U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stated in Congress that the current administration plans to reduce military aid to Ukraine.
