After the Russian attack on Ukraine on the night of June 17, Jean-Noel Barrot, France’s Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs, said that the Kremlin, which claims to be seeking to establish peace in the Middle East, should start with Ukraine.
He made the comment via X, as seen by Ukrinform.
“A murderous attack on Ukraine by the regime of Vladimir Putin, whose cruelty and cynicism know no bounds. To the Kremlin that would like to establish peace in the Middle East, start with Ukraine,” Barrot said.
On Sunday, U.S. President Donald Trump said he was “open” to Russian President Putin playing the role of mediator in the conflict between Israel and Iran. In turn, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his disagreement with that possibility: “I do not believe that Russia, which is today involved in a high-intensity conflict and has decided for several years not to respect the Charter of the United Nations, can be a mediator.”
As reported, European politicians reacted to the Russian Federation’s massive attack on Ukrainian cities overnight Tuesday, June 17, and called for more pressure on Moscow.
