Lives shattered in Russian attacks are the unacceptable price for a lack of united resolve to force Russia to negotiate peace.
That’s according to Belgium’s Ambassador to Ukraine Luc Jacobs, who gave an exclusive comment to Ukrinform.
“No words can express the pain and grief, so action counts,” the ambassador stressed.
“The many innocent lives shattered and peaceful homes destroyed, once again, are the unacceptable price for a lack of united resolve to force aggressor state Russia to the negotiating table,” the head of the embassy concluded.
In a separate statement, posted on social media, Belgium’s Embassy in Ukraine said Russia has once again shown “it cannot be stopped by weakness or compromise”.
“Only determination and pressure can hold it back,” diplomats stressed.
In the wake of the brutal attack targeting Kyiv, one of the deadliest since the full-scale invasion, the mission said they were “devastated and heartbroken”.
“This terror must be stopped,” the Belgian Embassy concluded.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, Russia launched over 440 drones and 32 missiles at Ukraine overnight Tuesday, June 17, targeting Kyiv, Odesa, as well as the regions of Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv regions.
In Kyiv alone, 27 locations were affected, including residential neighborhoods. At least 10 people have been confirmed dead and over a hundred injured.
Representatives of the foreign diplomatic corps visited the site of the Russian strike that targeted an apartment building in the capital’s Solomiansky district.
June 18 was declared the Day of Mourning in the capital and Kyiv region in respect for the victims of Russia’s latest deadly strike.
