On the southern front, Russian invading forces are using munitions with chemical agents just as they do in the northern sectors of the front.
This was reported in a comment to Ukrinform by Spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces Vladyslav Voloshyn.
“The enemy also uses chemical weapons here almost daily. How and why they use this weapon — I’ll explain. When an assault begins, a plane delivers an airstrike with glide bombs on a position, while artillery strikes the same position, which has certain shelters and fortifications. This position is basically destroyed; nothing remains there. After that, the enemy launches their drones and first drops one or two chemical munitions to, basically, ‘smoke out’ our defenders still hiding on that position, and immediately follows with FPV drones and drop drones. Then the enemy activates electronic warfare (EW) to block our guys from using their drones, while they themselves use fiber-optic drones to cut off assistance and reinforcements coming to those positions,” Voloshyn explained.
He added that Russian assault troops on motorcycles, buggies, and quad bikes then try to enter and secure the Ukrainian positions. This is a typical enemy scenario, although each attack has its own characteristics, the Spokesperson noted.
“Therefore, where assaults continue along the contact line, the enemy uses munitions with such chemical agents. Mainly, it is tear gas that spreads and fills the fortifications, positions, and shelters where our fighters may be hiding. If they don’t have protective gear, they are forced to come out to the surface, where enemy drones are waiting for them,” Voloshyn said.
As reported by Ukrinform, Russian invaders have been using chemical weapons for the third consecutive week on the Siverskyi front.
