Ukrainian forces neutralize 428 Russian drones, missiles overnight

On the night of June 16 to 17, Russian occupation forces launched 472 drones and missiles against Ukraine. The primary target was Kyiv. As many as 428 drones and missiles were neutralized.

The Ukrainian Air Force Command’s press service reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

Starting at 20:00 on June 16, the enemy attacked Ukraine with 472 drones and missiles, including 440 strike UAVs of the Shahed type and various decoy drones launched from Kursk, Shatalovo, Oryol, Bryansk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), including approximately 280 Shaheds; two Kh-47M2 Kinzhal ballistic missiles launched from the airspace over the Tambov region; 16 Kh-101 cruise missiles fired from strategic aviation aircraft in the airspace over the Saratov region; four Kalibr cruise missiles launched from the Black Sea; nine Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missiles launched from tactical aviation aircraft over the Belgorod and Bryansk regions; and one Kh-31P anti-radiation missile.

The aerial attack was repelled by aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and drone units, and mobile fire teams of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.

As of 10:00, preliminary data indicate that air defense neutralized 428 drones and missiles, including 262 shot down and 166 lost due to electronic jamming.

In particular, 239 Shahed-type (and other types of) enemy UAVs were shot down and 163 were lost or disrupted by electronic warfare. Ukrainian forces also intercepted two Kh-47M2 Kinzhal missiles (one lost from radar); 15 Kh-101 cruise missiles; eight Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missiles (one lost from radar); and one Kh-31P anti-radiation missile (lost from radar).

Enemy strikes were recorded in ten locations, and debris from intercepted targets fell in 34 locations.
