Poland has deployed two planes to evacuate Polish citizens from Israel, who will depart from Jordan and Egypt.
As Polish Foreign Ministry spokesman Pawel Wronski noted in a comment to Ukrinform, Ukrainian citizens will also be among the evacuees, and Warsaw is ready to continue assisting Ukrainians in the evacuation.
“We will not provide data (on the number of Ukrainians – ed.) as the list is incomplete. The procedure for filling one of the planes with passengers, which will take off on Wednesday, is underway,” Wronski said.
At the same time, he assured that in the event of further deterioration of the situation in the Middle East, Ukrainian citizens can count on Poland’s support.
“Of course, yes. The Ukrainian side once helped us (in the evacuation from Lebanon in 2024 – ed.), and Poland will also help the citizens of Ukraine in a difficult situation,” the spokesman for the Polish foreign ministry emphasized.
On Tuesday, at a press conference in Warsaw, Deputy Foreign Minister Henryka Moscicka-Dendys announced that Poland was scheduling two evacuation flights from Israel: on Wednesday morning by charter plane from Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, and on Thursday by a military cargo plane from Amman, Jordan. According to the official, about 200 people have expressed their will to evacuate. She added that citizens of Ukraine, Austria, France, and Germany will also be on board the Polish charter.
Moscicka-Dendys reported that Poland is also evacuating some of its diplomatic personnel from Iran, who will travel by land to Baku.
As Ukrinform reported, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said his country would cease strikes on Israel if the IDF halt attacks on the Islamic Republic.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his country was ready to stop the military campaign against Iran if the latter accepts U.S. demands to eliminate its nuclear program.
Earlier, Ukrinform reported that a dozen Polish citizens were on board a Ukrainian evacuation plane from Lebanon, which landed in Rzeszow on October 1 last year, including families of Polish diplomats, as well as people with health issues.
