As a result of the massive Russian strike on June 17, the most severely damaged buildings in Odesa were located in the historic city center.
This was reported on Telegram by Odesa Mayor Hennadii Trukhanov, according to Ukrinform.
“As a result of the massive strike on Odesa on June 17, dozens of residential buildings in the Prymorskyi district were affected. The most extensive damage occurred on Oleksiia Markevycha and Novoselskoho streets,” Trukhanov stated.
According to him, damage was recorded in 51 residential buildings, with at least six sustaining significant destruction. Over 130 apartments were affected, many of them with shattered windows, damaged doors, and broken balcony structures. More than 200 square meters of roofing were destroyed. Some buildings were left without water and electricity.
The Mayor noted that emergency municipal crews were deployed immediately after the strike. Urgent work is underway to seal windows, inspect buildings, and prepare for roof repairs.
Trukhanov emphasized that all those who lost their homes have been provided with temporary accommodation. Two families are currently staying at the Odesa City Council’s Social and Psychological Assistance Center. All affected residents have been informed about the availability of city-funded housing rental compensation.

The City Council is providing comprehensive support to those affected, with psychologists, social services, and volunteers assisting them.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, early on June 17, the Russians attacked Odesa with drones. The strike resulted in two women killed and 17 injured, including a pregnant woman and a 17-year-old girl. An infectious disease hospital and a building of the pedagogical university were also damaged.
