Enemy activity in the Sumy direction has decreased, and no enemy actions along the border have been observed within the Chernihiv region.
This was announced at a briefing at Ukrinform by State Border Service spokesman Andrii Demchenko.
According to him, in the Sumy direction, the enemy continues to use tactics of attempting to enter Ukrainian territory with small assault groups. “However, over the past few days, activity has decreased somewhat, especially with regard to the use of quad bikes or motorcycles, which these small assault groups used to try to advance as far as possible into the territory of our state, using their speed,” Demchenko said.
In the Kharkiv section, in the direction of the village of Vovchansk, where units of the State Border Service are located, the enemy also continues its actions to expand the combat zone. It carries out daily assault operations, mainly with infantry groups, he stressed, adding that thanks to the resilience of Ukrainian soldiers, it is possible to hold back the enemy.
“On the section of the border within the Chernihiv region, specifically on the border with Russia, we do not observe any actions directly along the border,” Demchenko emphasized.
Shelling of the border area within the Chernihiv region also occurs, although less than in the Sumy or Kharkiv regions, he noted.
In addition, daily shelling with artillery, mortars, and tanks continues along the border with Russia in the Kramatorsk, Lyman, and Kupiansk directions.
According to him, this year, the Russian military has significantly increased the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, in particular fiber-optic drones.
As reported, on June 17, Russian troops shelled 19 settlements in three communities in the Chernihiv region, with 155 explosions recorded.
