Photo of parents on ruins goes viral as student Dmytro Isaienko confirmed killed in Kyiv attack

In the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv, as a result of a Russian missile attack on a residential building on the night of June 17, Dmytro Isaienko, a master’s student at the Faculty of Physical Education, Sports, and Health of Mykhailo Dragomanov University, was killed.

According to Ukrinform, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Youth and Sports reported this on Facebook.

“The Committee on Youth and Sports expresses its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Dmytro Isaienko, who died on June 17 as a result of a Russian missile strike on Kyiv,” the statement said.

Isaenko was a first-year master’s student at the Faculty of Physical Education, Sports, and Health at Mykhailo Dragomanov University, specializing in Physical Culture and Sports (Human Health and Physical Recreation). His life was cut short under the rubble of a building in Kyiv that was hit by an enemy rocket.

“Photos of his parents waiting hopefully and painfully near the destroyed building spread around the world. All Ukrainians, together with Dmytro’s parents, prayed for a miracle… But the miracle did not happen…,” the committee said.

As reported by Ukrinform, on June 17, during a combined air attack on Kyiv, a Russian missile pierced all floors of a nine-story residential building in the Solomianskyi district.

On June 18, two more bodies were recovered from the rubble. The death toll has risen to 23, and search and rescue operations are continuing.
