
On June 22, Russian forces launched a missile strike at a training ground of one of the mechanized brigades of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where training exercises were being conducted with servicemen. Casualties, including both killed and wounded, have been reported.
That is according to the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, Ukrinform reports.
“Thanks to timely implemented safety measures upon receiving the air raid alert signal, numerous personnel losses were avoided. Unfortunately, there are fatalities and injuries. All those affected are receiving the necessary qualified medical assistance in healthcare facilities.”
The Ground Forces extended their sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the fallen servicemen.
“To thoroughly investigate the circumstances of the incident, the Command of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has established a special commission. Law enforcement agencies are also working at the scene,” the statement said.
At the same time, additional security measures are being implemented to protect the lives and health of service members in case of further missile and air strikes by the aggressor state.
Later, the Ground Forces clarified: as of 17:27, it was confirmed that three people were killed and 11 wounded.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, on June 4, Russian forces carried out a missile strike on the grounds of one of the training units in Poltava region, resulting in injuries.
