The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has denied that Beijing has supplied weapons to any of the parties involved in the conflict in Ukraine.
This was stated by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun at a briefing on Thursday, Ukrinform reports, citing Global Times.
Guo said that on the issue of Ukraine, China has consistently called for peace talks and “actively promoted a political settlement of the crisis.”
“China has never provided weapons to any party in the conflict and strictly controls the export of dual-use items. China’s objective and fair stance, as well as its constructive role, have been widely recognized by the international community. NATO’s false information cannot deceive the world. If NATO truly cares about the security of Europe and the world, it should stop fanning the flames and inciting confrontation,” the statement said.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman noted that some NATO representatives “deliberately stir up international and regional tensions and smear China’s normal military development.” According to him, their real goal is to justify NATO’s sharp increase in military spending, expansion of power, and attempt to spread to the Asia-Pacific region.
“We urge NATO to seriously reflect, listen to the just voices of the international community, abandon outdated Cold War mentality, bloc confrontation, and zero-sum thinking, correct its misguided perception of China, and stop manipulating China-related issues,” Guo said.
According to the publication, this statement was made in response to NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte’s remarks on Wednesday, in which he said it is really important for NATO collectively to “spend more” given factors such as the Russia-Ukraine conflict and China’s large-scale military buildup.
As reported by Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky previously stated that Ukraine had received information that China was supplying weapons to the Russian Federation. Specifically, this refers to gunpowder and artillery.
