Odesa family couple killed, children among injured in Russian drone attack

In Odesa, rescuers retrieved the bodies of a man and a woman who died after a Russian drone hit a high-storey apartment block.

City Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov reported this on Telegram, Ukrinform saw.

“Rescuers have just found the bodies of a couple who died when an enemy drone hit their apartment,” he wrote.

Work on eliminating the consequences of the attack is underway.

“The operational headquarters of the district administration will start its work at the site this morning,” the mayor noted.

Information about the dead was confirmed by the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, Oleh Kiper.

According to him, two children injured in the Russian attack are in hospitals: a 7-year-old boy in moderate condition and a 3-year-old toddler poisoned by combustion products.

Four adults were also injured and are now in hospital in moderate condition, the official added.

According to the State Emergency Service, the Russians hit a 21-storey residential building. As a result of the strike, a fire broke out on the 7th, 8th and 9th floors. Residents were trapped in their apartments.

Five people were rescued, including a child, rescuers said.

The search and rescue operation is ongoing.

It was previously reported that Russian drones attacked Odesa and the surrounding region. Damage to civilian infrastructure was recorded, including residential buildings and cars.
