Yermak, advisors to European leaders discuss next steps in negotiation process

Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak held a video conference meeting with national security advisors to the leaders of European nations.

This was reported by the President’s Office, Ukrinform saw.

The online meeting was attended by Diplomatic Advisor to the President of France Emmanuel Bonne, National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Jonathan Powell, Diplomatic Advisor to the President of the Council of Ministers of Italy Fabrizio Saggio, and Deputy Advisor to the Federal Chancellor of Germany on Foreign Policy and Security Alexander Wallau

During the conversation, the outcome of the NATO summit in The Hague was summed up. The parties separately highlighted the importance of the meeting between the presidents of Ukraine and the United States.

The parties discussed the next steps in the negotiation process aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace. Andriy Yermak stressed the need to increase pressure on Russia to bring it to the table for constructive talks.

“The participants also noted the support expressed by EU member state leaders for opening EU accession negotiations with Ukraine following yesterday’s European Council meeting,” the report reads.

A separate focus of the discussion was the preparation for a meeting of the leaders of the Coalition of the Willing members and the coordination of further contacts.

As reported, Yermak stated that the existing sanctions keep Russia from unleashing a war against European and NATO member states.
