Ukraine aligns Russia sanctions with EU’s 13th, 14th packages – Zelensky

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this in an address to the nation on Sunday, Ukrinform reports.

“The 13th and 14th EU sanctions packages are now fully synchronized – they will now also be 100 percent Ukrainian sanctions. Today I approved this,” the head of state said.

He announced that the European sanctions package against the regime in Iran will also be 100 percent aligned. These are restrictive measures applied to a large number of entities related to defense production and external terror schemes against regional neighbors, as well as repressions in the country itself.

Zelensky stressed that the regime currently reigning in Iran is one of the world’s most brutal ones, so it is not surprising that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin found common ground with them.

“We will continue all this work on alignment, and I expect all our institutions in the country to move quickly,” the President noted.

Sanctions by the international community against Russia, he is convinced, should now be one of the key priorities. Such measures indeed limit Russia’s strategic development opportunities, as well as their potential.

Every day, sanctions should more painfully limit Russia’s ability to pursue the war they have unleashed against Ukraine.

“Next week, we are preparing new, joint decisions with partners regarding our defense, our resilience,” Zelensky said.

The President expressed gratitude to everyone who helps Ukraine.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, on June 27, Zelensky announced the decision of the National Security and Defense Council to ensure the alignment of Russia sanctions with international partners.

On the same day, a decree was published on the President’s website to put the corresponding decision of the National Security and Defense Council into effect.
