In the Siversk operational axis, Ukrainian forces captured two citizens of Cameroon who had been fighting on Russia’s side.
The K-2 20th Separate Regiment of Unmanned Systems reported this on Facebook, posting a video of the captured foreigners, Ukrinform reports.
The report, delivered in Ukrainian, identifies the prisoners of war as “Metugena Unana Jean Pafe” and “Anatol Franc”. They claim they were traveling to Russia “to make shampoo” and “to have their teeth treated.”
At the Moscow airport, the Cameroonians were greeted as “cheap substitutes for local cannon fodder.” Both understood why the Russians were hiring them but still went on to sign a contract. For doing so, they were promised RUB 1.1 million.
“This is significantly less than what the regime offers its own citizens, but it is decent money for Cameroon,” the regiment noted.
The Africans were captured by the K-2 battalion jointly with the 118th Territorial Defense Brigade, 1st Rifle and 1st Mechanized Battalions of the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade.
As Ukrinform reported, Chinese prisoner of war Wang Guangjun said that, while at one of the Russian army recruiting stations, he met nearly 20 soldiers of other nationalities, including nationals of Kazakhstan, Ghana, Iraq, etc.
