President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that three German defense companies are currently operating in Ukraine.
Speaking ahead of a meeting with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul in Kyiv, Zelensky noted that five representatives from major German defense firms would be joining the talks, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“In the coming days, this number could grow to 20. This is an important partnership for us. We are working to establish a dedicated military hub in Ukraine and beyond,” Zelensky noted.
The President emphasized the strategic value of this cooperation, highlighting that three German companies are already active in Ukraine and that a fourth may soon join them.
“I also wanted to speak with you, Mr. Minister, about this fourth company in particular,” he added.
As Ukrinform previously reported, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and his German counterpart Boris Pistorius signed an agreement in Berlin on May 28 to finance the production of long-range weapons in Ukraine.
On June 30, Minister Wadephul arrived in Kyiv to continue discussions on Germany’s support for Ukraine amid ongoing Russian aggression.
