Colonel Serhii Zakharevych, Commander of the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after General-Khorunzhyi Marko Bezruchko, was killed in action while defending Ukraine from Russian invaders.
The news was confirmed on Facebook by both his wife, Oksana, and General Serhii Sobko, Ukrinform reports.
According to Sobko, “today, a warrior, son, husband, and father of three children died.”
“You were the best of us when we studied together, the most talented. And you remained the best even after we became officers. You used to say that luck is fickle — and it often was for you. You faced many trials, but you never broke. You kept moving forward, no matter what,” Sobko wrote.
Serhii Zakharevych was appointed commander of the 110th Brigade in February 2025. Prior to that, he served as deputy commander of the 33rd Mechanized Brigade.
He had been awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky (2nd and 3rd Class) for his service.
