The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, has filed appeals with the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross regarding the brutal murder by Russians of an unarmed Ukrainian prisoner of war.
Lubinets reported this on Telegram, Ukrinform saw.
According to the ombudsperson, the Russians purportedly executed a Ukrainian POW as the relevant raw video is circulating across social media, showing a person, tied to a motorcycle, being dragged along the road.
“This is show-off brutality and yet another war crime by the Russian Federation. I have sent official letters to the UN and the ICRC,” Lubinets stressed.
Russia is acting as a terrorist state and must be held to account for every crime, he emphasized.
The Commissioner appealed to citizens who may have witnessed or have any information regarding the violation of the rights of Ukrainian citizens, executions of Ukrainian servicemen, to immediately report this to the ombudsman’s “hotline” (0800501720) and to law enforcement agencies.
“Every testimony is important for establishing truth. Such information will contribute to documenting war crimes, ensuring legal response and bringing the perpetrators to justice in accordance with the norms of international and national law,” Lubinets emphasized.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, intelligence operatives intercepted Russian communications where a commander is heard ordering subordinates to shoot wounded Ukrainian defenders.
