A new joint weapons production program with international partners is now being launched in Ukraine and in Ramstein-format partner countries.

As reported by Ukrinform, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced the initiative on Facebook.

According to Umerov, Ukraine possesses invaluable experience in modern warfare, has its own effective weapons and military equipment, and the ability to test them directly on the battlefield.

“Soon, Ukrainian arms and defense equipment manufacturers will receive a special legal and tax framework that will enable them to rapidly scale and modernize production, as well as build new facilities,” the minister noted.

The initiative focuses primarily on the creation of new factories and production sites both in Ukraine and abroad in the countries participating in the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.

Umerov emphasized that all weapons produced under this initiative will be supplied to Ukraine’s Defense Forces until the war ends.

“This is a new model of defense-industrial cooperation, in which Ukraine is an equal partner and a player on the global defense market,” he stressed.

On July 1, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, in cooperation with the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, Tax, and Customs Policy, presented to domestic defense industry companies the main points of four draft laws. These legislative proposals aim to amend tax, customs, and budget laws, as well as the Criminal Code, to foster industry development and enhance production security.

Umerov said the first parliamentary vote on this legislative package is expected to take place later in July.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky will focus on investments in weapons production, including long-range drones and interceptor UAVs, during his upcoming negotiations with EU countries.
