Activist, volunteer, chief sergeant Stanislav Humeniuk — a photographer for the Chernobyl Radiation and Ecological Biosphere Reserve — was killed as a result of a Russian missile strike on June 22, 2025.
According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the Chernobyl Biosphere Reserve on Facebook.
“With deep sorrow, we announce a tragic loss. On June 22, 2025, Stanislav Humeniuk — chief sergeant, defender of Ukraine, and formerly our colleague, dear friend, and caring human being — was killed by an enemy missile strike,” the message reads.
Born in 1966, Humeniuk was a resident of Novobratske in the Chopovychi community. A man of many talents, he was an activist, singer, composer, volunteer, teacher, the initiator of the ‘Save Polissia!’ movement, and a photographer.
“He gifted us many soulful, warm photos — captured with a deep love for nature. His lens reflected sincerity and admiration for beauty. Many of his images still live on the Chernobyl Reserve’s pages, preserving the echoes of light he left behind,” the Reserve’s message adds.
