Ukraine’s Southern Defense Forces are reporting intense and ongoing fighting on the Orikhiv axis, particularly near the settlement of Kamianske.
This was announced by Vladyslav Voloshyn, Spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, during a television broadcast, according to Ukrinform.
“The situation is difficult on the Orikhiv front, especially along the stretch near Kamianske. For several consecutive days, the enemy has launched heavy airstrikes, artillery shelling, and drone attacks on Ukraine’s Defense Forces positions in that area. The enemy continues to carry out assaults with small infantry groups,” Voloshyn said.
At the same time, he noted that Russian troops are unable to hold captured positions, because those locations have been completely destroyed.
“Our forces are forced to withdraw from positions that, in reality, no longer exist within the settlement. Several of those positions were entirely destroyed by the enemy, who then attempts to move in. But they can’t hold ground there either — there is nowhere to hide. Fierce fighting continues over this area,” Voloshyn emphasized.
As Ukrinform previously reported, the Southern Defense Forces noted that Russian forces are transferring a new motorized rifle regiment to the southern front.
