We must strive to convince our allies that Russia’s aggressive intentions are not rhetoric, but reality.

According to Lrt, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda made this statement on Tuesday during a meeting with the heads of the country’s diplomatic missions, Ukrinform reports.

“We must continue to strive to convince our allies, especially those in the west and south, that Russia’s aggressive intentions are not just rhetoric but reality, and that no European country can feel safe without being prepared,” Nausėda stressed.

He added that the country can “be proud of its participation in the recent NATO summit in The Hague,” where the Alliance’s commitment to increase defense spending to 5% of GDP by 2035 was confirmed.

“Lithuania is moving at its own pace: we will reach 5% of GDP for defense as early as next year,” the Lithuanian president stressed.
