The Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) has intercepted a conversation between Russian servicemen discussing preparations to use toxic substances against Ukrainian defenders.
According to Ukrinform, the audio recording was released on HUR’s official website.
“In the conversation intercepted by Ukrainian intelligence officers, Russian occupation troops are heard preparing for yet another war crime — the use of chemical weapons,” the agency said.
In the recording, the Russian soldiers discuss plans to deploy poisonous substances against Ukrainian defensive positions.
Ukraine’s military intelligence stressed that every war crime committed against the Ukrainian people would be met with just retribution.
On July 7, the UK government imposed new sanctions against Russia in response to its use of chemical weapons in Ukraine, in violation of the Chemical Weapons Convention.
