Specialists from the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine intercepted an order from one of the field commanders of Russia’s 155th Guards Naval Infantry Brigade regarding the treatment of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
As reported by Ukrinform, this was announced by the Main Directorate of Intelligence (HUR) on Telegram.
“On 10 July 2025, specialists from the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine recorded yet another war crime committed by Russia—an intercepted order from one of the field commanders of the 155th Guards Naval Infantry Brigade of the aggressor state concerning Ukrainian POWs. ‘Cut off their heads, put them on spikes, throw them out…,’ screamed the leader of the 2nd Air Assault Company of the Air Assault Battalion of the 155th Guards Naval Infantry Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces,” the statement said.
It is noted that the 155th Guards Naval Infantry Brigade of the aggressor state is notorious for war crimes committed during the occupation of the Kyiv Region and in other frontline areas. This Russian brigade is currently engaged in combat operations in the Sumy Region.
For the inhumane torture and barbaric killings of Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilians, the 155th Guards Naval Infantry Brigade of the Russian occupying army has become one of Vladimir Putin’s favored units—its flag was proudly displayed during the so-called year-end press conference of the Russian dictator in December 2024.
During the full-scale war, the brigade has repeatedly suffered devastating losses, necessitating replenishment with newly mobilized Russian recruits. Notably, on 2 July this year, Ukraine’s Defense Forces eliminated the brigade commander, Colonel Serhii Ilyin, in an attack on the brigade’s headquarters in Kursk Region.
As reported by Ukrinform, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, stated that as of early July, there were confirmed reports of 268 Ukrainian POWs executed by Russian forces.
