The potential of Ukrainian-Turkish relations is inexhaustible, and both countries have every reason to be allies in shaping a new security architecture in the Black Sea region. Protecting Turkey’s national interests will inevitably drive its leadership toward a closer relationship with Ukraine.

Nariman Dzhelyal, the newly appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey, said this in an interview with Ukrinform.

“The potential of our relationship is inexhaustible. In the face of global and regional challenges, Ukraine and Turkey have every reason to be allies in building a new security architecture in the Black Sea region,” Dzhelyal said.

The diplomat noted that there is a dynamic political dialogue between Ukraine and Turkey at the highest level. At the same time, other key areas are being actively promoted — from the implementation of defense-industrial projects to cooperation in infrastructure, trade, and investment.

The ratification of the Free Trade Agreement is nearing completion, and economic cooperation is expanding, including Turkish participation in Ukraine’s reconstruction. Turkey also serves as a mediator in the peace process and humanitarian initiatives — such as the “grain deal.”

“I am confident that, considering who is who in our region, protecting the interests of the Turkish state will inevitably lead its leadership to the objective necessity of closer ties with Ukraine. And we are actively facilitating this process,” Dzhelyal said.

Outlining his priorities as ambassador, he highlighted the importance of building on past achievements and delivering tangible results in all key areas — from strategic partnerships in security and trade to the development of cultural diplomacy, humanitarian initiatives, educational projects, and strengthening Ukrainian identity abroad.
