Zelensky tables in parliament bills to extend martial law and mobilization

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has submitted bills to the Verkhovna Rada to extend martial law and general mobilization in Ukraine for another 90 days, until November 5.

The relevant draft laws were published on the website of the Verkhovna Rada under Nos. 13471 and 13472, according to Ukrinform.

At present, both documents are under review by the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence.

In the proposed legislation, the president calls for an extension of martial law and general mobilization for an additional 90 days.

The bill on extending general mobilization states that “this law is announced through the media and will enter into force on August 7, 2025.”

The bill on extending martial law in Ukraine will enter into force “on the day of its publication.”

On April 16, the Verkhovna Rada approved a law ratifying the president’s decree to extend martial law in Ukraine for 90 days, from May 9 until August 7, 2025.

At that time, Bill No. 13172 “On Approval of the Presidential Decree on the Extension of Martial Law in Ukraine” was supported by 357 MPs, while Bill No. 13173 “On Approval of the Presidential Decree on the Extension of the General Mobilization” received 346 votes.
