Despite the war, the trade turnover between Ukraine and the Czech Republic is growing, as well as the number of Ukrainian businesses on the territory of the Czech Republic and Czech projects in Ukraine.
The relevant statement was made by Ambassador of Ukraine to the Czech Republic Vasyl Zvarych in an interview with Ukrinform.
As noted by the Ukrainian envoy, in the past year alone, the trade turnover has increased by 21.4%, and the number of Ukrainian businesses in the Czech Republic has expanded.
“Currently, we have almost 17,000 enterprises with Ukrainian capital, and more than 4,900 Ukrainian companies registered in the Czech Republic in 2023,” Zvarych told, adding that the above refers primarily to small and medium-sized enterprises.
Since early 2025, in order to promote business relations, the Czech-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce has been established, as well as business councils under the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Ukraine and the Czech Republic, and a separate working group to assist with the reconstruction of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
The Government of the Czech Republic took patronage over the Dnipropetrovsk region. Currently, about 20 Czech companies are operating there, and the Embassy of the Czech Republic will soon open its office in the city of Dnipro.
At the same time, the Czech side does not limit its assistance to the Dnipropetrovsk region only. Czech entrepreneurs are actively doing business in the Kharkiv region and other regions of Ukraine, Zvarych added.
In his words, the Czech Republic chose three priority areas in cooperation with Ukraine: water treatment systems (in recent days, the Dnipropetrovsk region has received another shipment of water purification equipment to provide more than 350,000 people with clean water); energy sector; and healthcare sector (rebuilding hospitals and providing them with equipment).
In this regard, Zvarych mentioned that the European Commission had allocated more than EUR 100 million for the Czech Republic to rebuild six hospitals in Ukraine (namely those in Lviv, Lutsk, Rivne, Dnipro, Kyiv and Kryvyi Rih). The financing mechanism is currently under approval, as funding will be provided partly through loans and partly through grants.
A reminder that, during the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2025) in Rome, President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel presented an 11-point Marshall Plan for Ukraine.
