President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the renewed government must focus on three key areas to strengthen Ukraine’s economic potential: deregulation, harnessing the power of society and international partners, and ensuring justice.
He made this statement during a speech in the Verkhovna Rada, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“We must guarantee our defenders confidence in the support of the Defense Forces. To achieve that, we are increasing Ukraine’s internal economic potential. And that’s impossible without three things. First – maximum deregulation, the elimination of all bureaucratic obstacles, and redundant state institutions whose functions merely overlap. Second – the full mobilization of Ukrainian society’s capabilities and the engagement of our partners’ potential to drive economic growth. Third – justice, meaning fundamentally stronger approaches to punishing those who undermine Ukrainian statehood and steal Ukraine’s potential,” Zelensky said.
He emphasized that the renewal of the Cabinet of Ministers and the overall government system will ensure the implementation of these priorities.
As Ukrinform reported, today, July 17, the Verkhovna Rada is voting to appoint a new Prime Minister and full Cabinet. Lawmakers have already approved Yuliia Svyrydenko as Prime Minister.
Earlier, on July 16, the parliament supported the resignation of Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. His departure triggered the automatic resignation of the entire government.
Shmyhal served as head of government longer than anyone in the history of independent Ukraine – five years (since March 4, 2020).
