Russian invading forces are attempting to construct pontoon crossings for armored vehicles across the Oskil River, creating conditions to encircle or storm the town of Kupiansk in Kharkiv region.
This was reported live on television by Pavlo Shamshyn, Spokesperson for the Kharkiv Operational Tactical Group, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
“The situation remains tense in the area of Dvorichna, where Russian forces continue deploying infantry to the western bank of the Oskil River with the aim of expanding their foothold and posing a threat to Kupiansk from the north, along the right bank. The goal is clear – to create conditions for either encircling or storming the town. But to achieve that, the enemy needs to establish reliable crossings across the Oskil – specifically pontoon bridges capable of moving armored vehicles,” said Shamshyn.
However, he added that these attempts have been unsuccessful due to the intense fire control maintained by Ukrainian defense forces over the river.
“They are constantly trying to build these crossings, but without success – our aerial reconnaissance closely monitors the Oskil’s surface, and as soon as we detect the approach of specialized equipment capable of building such crossings, all necessary firepower is used to destroy it. Currently, the enemy has no crossings that would allow them to transport equipment to the western bank of the Oskil,” Shamshyn emphasized.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, Russian forces in the Kharkiv operational zone are losing around 100 personnel daily.
