President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he had tasked the newly appointed government with increasing the share of Ukrainian-produced weapons on the front lines to 50% within six months.

The head of state announced this during his speech in the Verkhovna Rada, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.

“We are transforming the management of the defense sector and weapons production in such a way that, within six months, we will significantly increase the share of Ukrainian-made weapons available to our soldiers. Currently, about 40% of the weapons in the hands of our defenders are made in Ukraine. In six months, that figure must be at least 50%,” Zelensky said.

He emphasized that multiple wars and crises are erupting around the world, which are “scattering global efforts.”

“Therefore, Ukraine must rely more on its own strength,” the President stressed.
