Participants of the 29th Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting (Ramstein format) discussed ways to strengthen the defense capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this via Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

“During the Ramstein-format meeting, we received a clear signal: the free world stands with Ukraine and peace. Together with our partners, we focused on the main priority – strengthening the defense capabilities of the Ukrainian army,” Shmyhal wrote.

He also outlined key decisions made by Ukraine’s partners.

The United States, in cooperation with NATO, is launching a new mechanism allowing European countries to procure American weapons for Ukraine. Several European states have already expressed readiness to co-finance this initiative.

Germany will join the effort to supply five Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine, which are expected to be delivered soon.

Shmyhal also added that Germany would transfer over 200,000 rounds of ammunition for Gepard air defense systems and fund the procurement of Ukrainian-made long-range drones.

Canada will continue supporting Ukraine’s defense industry through the “Danish model” and is allocating 20 million Canadian dollars for the maintenance of Ukrainian tanks.

The Netherlands is providing EUR 200 million for interceptor drones and EUR 125 million for F-16 aircraft maintenance.

Norway has earmarked EUR 1 billion for drone procurement in 2025, EUR 400 million of which will be used to purchase drones from the Ukrainian defense industry.

Sweden is preparing a new aid package that will include air defense systems, artillery, and military equipment.

“I am sincerely grateful to every country supporting Ukraine within the Ramstein format. Special thanks go to the United States – the initiator of this platform in April 2022 – and to the United Kingdom and Germany for their leadership within the Contact Group. We continue working with our partners to strengthen our army and bring a just and lasting peace closer,” Shmyhal said.
