Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Russia launched over 420 drones and more than 20 missiles, including ballistic missiles, against Ukraine overnight. The attack left two people dead and 15 others injured, among them a 12-year-old child.
The head of state announced this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
“Rescue and emergency efforts are underway in our cities and communities following the Russian attack. Damage has been reported in Kyiv and the region, as well as in the Kharkiv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. Attack drones were also intercepted over the Sumy, Khmelnytskyi, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Poltava, and Kherson regions. Russian strikes are always an assault on humanity — in Kyiv, a kindergarten caught fire, along with residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure,” Zelensky said.
According to him, apartment buildings were damaged in Kharkiv, Ivano-Frankivsk and the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
“Fifteen people have been injured, the youngest is a 12-year-old boy. Everyone is receiving assistance. Two people were killed in the attack. My condolences to their families and loved ones,” the president added.
He noted that throughout the night, Russia launched more than 420 drones and over 20 missiles, including ballistic ones. The waves of attacks lasted all night and continued into the morning. In the morning, Shahed drones once again targeted the Kharkiv region. During the shelling, mobile fire groups, army aviation, electronic warfare units, Air Force warriors, and interceptor drones were in action.
“Many targets were shot down — but unfortunately, not all. That is why we must continue scaling up our interceptor capabilities. This is the kind of solution that can protect us from massive attacks,” Zelensky said.
He also thanked everyone working in Ukraine and with Ukraine to defend lives — to expand weapons production, strengthen Ukrainian air defense, and continue work on sanctions.
“Only real pressure on Russia can stop this aggression,” Zelensky said.
