Sybiha: Kellogg’s visit to Kyiv shows Putin fears only Trump

The fact that Russia did not attack Kyiv during the visit of U.S. presidential envoy Keith Kellogg demonstrates that only Washington can compel Moscow to pursue peace.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said this during a joint press conference with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barrot in Kyiv on Monday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

“Last week, we had an important visit from General Kellogg. I noted, by the way, that during his stay in Kyiv, there were no recorded attacks by the Russian aggressor on the capital. This is further evidence of whom Putin truly fears. Putin fears only Trump. He understands that only the United States can force Russia toward peace,” Sybiha said.

He said that during the intensive visit, Kellogg received firsthand information on the situation.

“Why is this important? Because we must also counter the Russian narrative that Russia is winning. No, Russia is not winning, and Ukraine is not losing. It is critical to operate from this paradigm,” Sybiha said.

According to him, the visit also included discussions on arms acquisitions for Ukraine, particularly air defense systems.

He stressed that General Kellogg was briefed on the number of air defense systems required to protect various cities and regions of Ukraine, as well as on the need for long-range weaponry and other key battlefield priorities, with the expectation that the envoy would relay this information to Trump.

“Following this, we anticipate direct communication between Presidents Zelensky and Trump to move forward with implementing the agreements reached,” Sybiha said.
