Next week, members of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement will hold a meeting to discuss the balance of legislation in the law enforcement sector.
This was confirmed in a comment to Ukrinform by Volodymyr Areshonkov, a member of the parliamentary committee and MP from the Dovira group.
“Sometime in the middle of next week, our committee members will gather. We’ll be discussing legislative amendments, specifically, issues in the laws that need to be adjusted. It’s expected to be an expert discussion rather than an official committee session,” Areshonkov said.
According to him, committee members see the need for further amendments to laws regulating the law enforcement system.
“Our committee will work on introducing certain changes to fully balance the legislation. We’re talking about a large number of legal issues that should improve the functioning of the law enforcement system. Details will follow later, once we have a clearer concept,” he added.
As Ukrinform previously reported, on July 22, the Verkhovna Rada passed legislation that reduced the powers of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO). President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the law the same day.
