The Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed concern over the Ukrainian parliament’s adoption of a law that limits the powers and effectively undermines the independence of Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO).

As reported by Ukrinform, Sweden’s foreign ministry issued a statement on social media platform X.

“The law adopted yesterday by Ukraine’s Parliament raises serious concerns about the independence of Ukraine’s anti-corruption institutions,” the statement reads.

It further emphasized: “Ukraine has made important progress fighting corruption in the past decade – staying the course is essential.”

The Swedish foreign ministry concluded by reaffirming: “Sweden remains a strong partner for reform in Ukraine.”
