Body of man recovered from rubble of apartment building in Odesa

Emergency workers have recovered the body of a man from beneath the rubble of a residential apartment block hit by a Russian drone strike on the night of July 23-24.

Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, announced this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

“Unfortunately, a man was killed in last night’s Russian drone attack on Odesa. Just now, rescuers recovered his body from the rubble of a residential apartment building,” the statement reads.

The victim was 32 years old.

Dismantling of the damaged structural elements of the building is ongoing.

On the night of July 23-24, Russian forces launched a drone strike on Odesa. The attack caused a fire that destroyed the historic Fruit Passage at the Pryvoz market, and damage was also reported at Prymorsky Boulevard, which lies within a UNESCO protected zone. A Russian drone struck a high-rise residential building in the Moldavanka district.

In total, 25 buildings were damaged, including two schools and an architectural monument in the city center.
