Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that if the bill he initiated is passed, everyone involved in state secrets will undergo lie detector tests.

The President announced this in an evening video address on Telegram, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.

“As promised, my bill is already in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine today, supporting justice, law enforcement, and anti-corruption agencies. It provides full guarantees of the independence of anti-corruption agencies. There must be real opportunities to verify that there is no Russian interference. Anyone with access to state secrets — not only in the NABU and SAP, but also in the DBR and National Police — must undergo lie detector tests. These tests must be regular,” Zelensky emphasized.

According to him, the bill also contains provisions that protect against other abuses.

“The text of the draft law was discussed with partners, law enforcement agencies, and representatives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO). Many proposals were made by our partners to involve European experts from the UK, Germany, and the European Union. I have instructed our government officials to present the draft law to all our partners and to engage all the necessary expertise,” the President added.
