British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is convening an emergency cabinet meeting this week on the crisis in the Gaza Strip and will also pressure U.S. President Donald Trump to take a tougher stance on Israel.

According to Ukrinform, The Guardian reports that the head of government is recalling ministers from their summer vacations.

It is noted that Starmer, who is scheduled to meet with Trump on Monday during his trip to Scotland, will insist on resuming negotiations on a ceasefire in Gaza.

During talks with the President at his Turnberry golf course in Ayrshire, Starmer will urge him to use his influence on the Israeli government to resume peace talks between Israel and Hamas.

Sources note that for the Labour Party, official recognition of the Palestinian state is a matter of time. According to the publication, government officials will present their proposals for resolving the situation in the Middle East in the coming days.

Starmer was reportedly horrified by the picture of hunger, despair, and suffering of children, which prompted him to convene the cabinet.

As reported by Ukrinform, the United States and Israel have suspended their participation in the Gaza ceasefire talks due to Hamas’ unwillingness to end the war.

At the same time, Israel resumed the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza by air on Saturday and is taking other measures to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in the Strip.
