The evacuation of residents from Kherson’s Korabel neighborhood continues as the humanitarian situation worsens following Russian airstrikes on a key bridge. Local authorities are urging civilians to leave the area due to increasingly difficult living conditions.
In a comment to Ukrinform, Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, described the situation in Korabel.
“I have just returned from the Korabel neighborhood and the evacuation point. More and more people are deciding to leave, because the humanitarian situation has deteriorated after the strikes on the bridge. Due to complicated logistics, it is difficult to deliver food, medicine, and other necessary items,” Prokudin said.
According to Prokudin, 219 people were evacuated in the past 24 hours alone. Since the initial attacks, more than 400 residents have left the area.
At the time of the strike, approximately 1,800 people remained in the neighborhood. While electricity and water are still available, gas supply has been cut off. Evacuees are receiving full support, including transportation to reunite with family members, temporary shelter accommodations, or relocation to other regions.

Prokudin emphasized the urgent need to evacuate children from the Korabel neighborhood.
“At the time of the first strike on the bridge, 44 children lived in Korabel. Now ten remain. One is already being prepared for evacuation, two more will be evacuated on August 5. Work is underway with two families, and two cases are particularly difficult — the parents categorically refuse to evacuate. Police and social services are actively working with them,” Prokudin stated.
In addition to children, approximately 40 residents with limited mobility remain in the area. Their evacuation is a top priority, Prokudin noted.
“We will help them not only to leave but also to settle in a new place,” he assured, urging all remaining residents of Korabel not to delay their decision to evacuate.
As earlier reported, on the evening of Saturday, August 2, Russian forces dropped two guided aerial bombs on Kherson, striking a road bridge leading to Korabel, three private homes, and a high-rise residential building. In response, local officials urged residents to evacuate to safer regions as attacks intensified.
As of the evening of August 4, 400 people have been evacuated from the neighborhood, including 34 children and 41 individuals with limited mobility.
