U.S. President Donald Trump is well-informed about the situation on the front lines and Russia’s efforts to intensify its strikes against Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this during his evening video address.

“Today I spoke with President Trump. The most important topic was ending the war. He is very well informed. He knows about the Russian strikes. He knows about the situation at the front, and that Russia is trying to increase the intensity of its attacks. We in Ukraine fully support the U.S. proposal for an immediate ceasefire,” Zelensky said.

He recalled that Ukraine has repeatedly attempted, in various formats, to reach a ceasefire and stop the killings. In particular, Kyiv has proposed a no-strike agreement over civilian infrastructure and energy facilities.

“All of this was violated by the Russians — and cynically so. Even when they weren’t using Shahed drones, they targeted power infrastructure and transformers. Not a single day passed without terror against civilians. Not a single day of genuine silence at the front,” Zelensky said, adding that the root cause of the war lies in Russia”s desire to control and dominate its neighbors.

Zelensky stressed that it is critically important for Moscow to start feeling the pressure of the international community — especially the United States — and the threat of tougher sanctions for continuing the war.

In his opinion, one of the key sanctions tracks should target Russian oil, as cutting off oil revenue is vital to forcing Russia toward peace.

“Russia must run out of money for war. We are working toward that, and I’m grateful to everyone around the world who supports this effort,” he said.

Zelensky also reported that he had discussed bilateral relations with President Trump and proposed a drone cooperation agreement.

“Our team and the U.S. team will now work on the details of this agreement,” he noted.

Zelensky expressed gratitude to the U.S., NATO, and European partners for enabling new arms deliveries under a special initiative.

“Yesterday, the Netherlands approved EUR 500 million. Today, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark have jointly pledged $500 million for the purchase of American weapons, including Patriot missiles,” Zelensky said.

President Zelensky previously discussed the joint purchase of American weapons with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, using funds from European partners.
