War update: Ukrainian forces repel 52 Russian attacks in Pokrovsk sector

As many as 143 combat engagements between Ukrainian forces and Russian invaders were recorded on the front lines on August 5, with the Pokrovsk sector seeing the heaviest fighting.

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said this in an operational update as of 08:00 on Wednesday, August 6, according to Ukrinform.

According to the General Staff, Russian forces launched two missile strikes and 107 airstrikes, using two missiles and 147 guided bombs against Ukrainian positions and populated areas. The enemy also conducted 5,731 artillery attacks, including 64 with multiple launch rocket systems, and deployed 4,224 kamikaze drones.

Russian airstrikes targeted, among others, the areas of Khliborob in the Sumy region, as well as Olhivka, Kozatske, and Darivka in the Kherson region.

In response, Ukrainian aircraft, missile troops, and artillery struck 14 Russian targets, including two artillery systems, eight areas of enemy troop, weapon, and equipment concentrations, and four command posts.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, Ukrainian defenders repelled 13 attacks. The enemy used 35 guided aerial bombs, and conducted 353 artillery strikes, including 16 with MLRS.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, five engagements occurred near Vovchansk and Fyholivka.

In the Kupiansk sector, Ukrainian forces repelled seven attacks near Radkivka, Holubivka, Stepova Novoselivka, Nova Kruhliakivka, Zahryzove, and toward Novoplatonivka.

In the Lyman sector, Russian forces launched 23 attacks, trying to advance near Olhivka, Novyi Myr, Hlushchenkove, Torske, Serebrianka, Hryhorivka, Kolodiazi, and toward Cherneshchyna, Serednie, and Shandryholove.

In the Siversk sector, the Russian army attacked Ukrainian positions near Hryhorivka and toward Siversk, with three total engagements in the sector.

In the Kramatorsk sector, two enemy attacks were repelled near Chasiv Yar.

In the Toretsk sector, Russian forces launched eight assaults near Toretsk, Dyliivka, and Shcherbynivka.

In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian forces successfully repelled 52 Russian attacks near Pokrovsk, Popiv Yar, Volodymyrivka, Boikivka, Suvorove, Kotlyne, Novoekonomichne, Muravka, Myroliubivka, Mykolaivka, Rodynske, Sukhetske, Dachne, Promin, Molodetske, Lysivka, Zvirove, Udachne, Novoukrainka, Oleksiivka, and toward Novopavlivka.

In the Novopavlivka sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 16 assaults near Piddubne, Voskresenka, Shevchenko, Zelenyi Hai, Zelene Pole, and Novodarivka, in the direction of Ivanivka and Novoivanivka.

In the Huliaipole sector, the enemy attempted one failed assault near Temyrivka.

In the Orikhiv sector, Russian troops launched two attacks near Stepove and Plavni.

In the Dnipro River sector, there was one unsuccessful enemy attempt to approach Ukrainian positions. The Russians suffered losses.

In the Volyn and Polissia sectors, no signs of Russian offensive force buildup were observed.
