Zelensky after call with Trump: Our joint position with partners is clear – war must end honestly

President Volodymyr Zelensky had a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump. The conversation took place following the visit of Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff to Moscow.

Zelensky announced this in a post on social media, as reported by Ukrinform.

“Right on my way from our brigades here in Sumy region, I spoke with President Trump. This conversation happened after President Trump’s representative, Steve Witkoff, visited Moscow,” he said.

Zelensky stated that the position of Ukrainian partners is absolutely clear: “The war must end. And it must be done honestly”.

The head of state noted that European leaders joined the call, stating: “We discussed what was spelled out in Moscow.”

“Ukraine will definitely defend its independence. We all need a lasting and reliable peace. Russia must end the war that it itself started. Thank you to everyone who stands with Ukraine,” he added.

As Ukrinform reported, U.S. President Donald Trump called today’s meeting between his special envoy Steve Witkoff and Russian President Vladimir Putin “very productive” and said “great progress” had been made.

Earlier on Wednesday, U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff held talks with Kremlin President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
