Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, Oleksandr Pivnenko, conducted inspections of units tasked with protecting and defending critical infrastructure facilities throughout the past week.
According to Ukrinform, Pivnenko shared details of the visit on Facebook.
During the inspection, he reviewed the service conditions and operational specifics of personnel, assessed the organization of surveillance systems, coordination with other defense forces, and the implementation of security measures for rapid response to potential threats. He also held discussions with facility management, staff, and commanders overseeing operations at these sites.
“We are integrating modern technical solutions to strengthen the security of key state facilities. Currently, around 1,000 mobile and stationary firing groups of the National Guard are deployed across Ukraine, providing protection against enemy air strikes. These units are capable of swiftly repositioning and adapting to evolving threats,” Pivnenko emphasized.
He added that systematic efforts are underway to equip and train these units, enhancing their capacity to counter emerging threats with maximum effectiveness
According to Commander Pivnenko, technical assistance from international partners plays a vital role in enhancing security efforts. This includes the provision of modern equipment, advanced surveillance systems, and long-range detection radars, which are actively used by National Guard units.
“We are testing new weapons and equipment within military units and transferring proven solutions to training centers and operational units. This ensures that guardsmen across all regions can master contemporary methods of facility protection and air defense,” he noted.
Pivnenko emphasized that strengthening capabilities in this domain remains a constant priority for the National Guard.
“We are systematically improving personnel training, upgrading engineering infrastructure, and integrating new technologies for intelligence gathering and situational monitoring,” he added.
As Ukrinform earlier reported, Pivnenko also inspected units responsible for the protection and defense of the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant and the surrounding exclusion zone.
