In the south, a record number of strikes by kamikaze drones, artillery, and aircraft have been recorded over the past few days.
This was stated in an exclusive comment to a Ukrinform correspondent by Vladislav Voloshyn, spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces.
“Over the past day, a record number of kamikaze drone strikes have been recorded—715 strikes. There were 365 in Kherson and 342 in Zaporizhzhia. In addition, the largest number of artillery strikes in recent times was recorded – 263 with the use of 1,250 rounds of ammunition,” the spokesman said.
According to him, Russian occupiers increased the number of FPV drone strikes by 30% and the number of unguided air missile strikes by 24%. The enemy has also significantly increased the number of FPV drones over the past three days.
“For example, yesterday there were 670 [FPV drones], today there are already 715, and before that we counted about 370-400,” Voloshyn added.
He reported that 57 shellings of populated areas were also recorded – the largest number in recent times.
“Seven [shelling incidents] in Nikopol using artillery, FPV drones, and drop drones. In Kherson alone, there were 10 shelling incidents, five of which involved artillery, and in a populated area such as Vyshchetarasivka in Zaporizhzhia, there were 19 shelling incidents in total. The enemy has increased its activity in the southern direction, in particular, yesterday it struck Zaporizhzhia with guided aerial bombs, hitting the bus station and the medical university clinic, injuring two dozen people as a result of this strike. There are casualties among the civilian population in Kherson, Nikopol, and Vyshchetarasivka,” Voloshyn said.
He emphasized that the Russians have begun more active combat operations in the south and this morning carried out air strikes using unguided air missiles.
“Today, the enemy struck Stepnohirsk with five guided aerial bombs and fired 20 unguided aerial missiles at the settlements of Prydniprovsk and Antonivka on the right bank of the Dnipro,” the spokesman said.
