On the night of August 14, units from the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, in coordination with other elements of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, conducted a drone strike on the Volgograd oil refinery (Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka LLC). The facility is a key supplier of petroleum products to the Russian military.

According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the operation on its official Facebook.

The attack by combat UAVs sparked severe fires at the refinery. The full extent of the damage is still being assessed.

The General Staff emphasized that the Volgograd oil refinery is the largest producer of petroleum products in Russia’s Southern Federal District. It processes over 15 million tonnes of crude oil annually, accounting for 5.6% of the country’s total refining capacity. The plant produces diesel, gasoline, and jet fuel—critical components for the logistics of the Russian Armed Forces.
